Next-Generation PostgreSQL Replication via Bi-Directional Multi-Master Pub/Sub
Come and enjoy this fun-filled presentation and learn about PostgreSQL replication solutions that provide asynchronous bi-directional multi-master replication (BDR) through publish/subscribe models, that work exceptionally-well for geographically distributed databases.
Peter will explain BDR functionality, how to use it and how this revolutionary technology can help globally distributed organizations achieve high availability through replication.
Similar to how mobile phone networks put the transmitters in close proximity to the phone-users, BDR can be utilized to deploy a network of databases close to the user. This arrangement is ideal for IoT connectivity and also allows customer data to be stored only within specific regions, enabling individual customers to restrict or control the distribution of their data.
In this session, Peter will also explain row and column filtering, conflict resolution, table synchronization, failover support and Kafka integration.
Peter has been a contributor to PostgreSQL development since 1999. He is a committer, core team member and is involved in many aspects of the community.
Peter works at 2ndQuadrant, a global service and support provider for PostgreSQL.
